Hawach has two kinds of extraction thimbles, based on their different materials–cellulose extraction thimbles and glass fiber extraction thimbles.

1. What is cellulose?

Cellulose is a macromolecular polysaccharide composed of glucose and it does not dissolve in water and common organic solvents. Cellulose is the most widely distributed and most abundant polysaccharide in nature, accounting for more than 50% of the carbon content of the plant kingdom. Cotton has a cellulose content close to 100% and is the natural source of the purest cellulose.

Hawach cellulose extraction thimbles feature consistent high porosity which ensures fast flow through and high fitting accuracy for all available extraction systems. It is used in general Soxhlet extraction and indoor dustfall, indoor toxic organic matter (phthalic acid).

What is glass fiber?

As an inorganic non-metallic material, glass fiber features excellent performance, good insulation, heat resistance, good corrosion resistance, and high mechanical strength. It is a good substitute for metal materials.

Glass fiber has become an indispensable raw material for the construction, transportation, electronics, electrical, chemical, metallurgical, environmental protection, national defense and other industries, thanks to the rapid development of the market economy. Glass fiber has received increasing attention, with the wide application in many fields.

The global fiberglass production and consumption countries are mainly developed countries such as the United States, Europe, and Japan, and their per capita glass fiber consumption is relatively high. Europe remains the largest region for fiberglass consumption, accounting for 35% of total global use.

Hawach glass fiber extraction thimbles

So Hawach glass fiber extraction thimbles can be used in special Soxhlet extraction, for example: when the temperature is higher than 120℃, or the cellulose extraction thimble cannot be used, as the strong acid. Also, it is applicable to fixed pollution source detection: flue gas, smoke and fixed atmospheric pollution sources, like cadmium, nickel, tin, fluoride, etc.

Technical parameters

Extraction thimbles can be divided into cellulose and glass fiber extraction thimbles, based on the materials. Due to the different materials, their technical parameters differ.

Cellulose extraction thimble

Composition: high-grade alpha-cellulose/ seamless noble cellulose and linters of cotton.
Without any binding elements.
Heating temperature: 75℃, forming temperature: 10℃, forming time: 1 Hour.
DOP Retention: 99.8%.
Maximum temperature: 100 ℃.

Glass fiber extraction thimble

Composition: Super-fine Glass Micro-fiber.
DOP Retention:>99.99%.
Maximum temperature: 600 ℃.
Weight loss(%): <0.2 .

Application

Cellulose extraction thimble is used for general Soxhlet extraction, and indoor dustfall, indoor toxic organic matter (phthalic acid).

Glass fiber extraction thimble is for special Soxhlet extraction when the temperature is higher than 120 ℃, the cellulose cannot be tried, such as strong acid. Also, it is adopted in the fixed pollution source detection: flue gas, smoke; cadmium, nickel, tin, fluoride, etc., which are fixed sources of pollution in the atmosphere; benzoyl peroxide, lead, asphalt smoke, sulfuric acid mist, etc., ambient air and exhaust gas arsenic, dioxins, etc.
