Three Issues to be Aware of When Using Glass Fiber Extraction Thimbles

Extractions are mainly used in Soxhlet extractors for safe, convenient and efficient solid and semi-solid material extraction. While soxhlet extraction is a widely used technique for the analysis of lipids or pesticides in food and soil materials and other solid-liquid extraction techniques.

Glass fiber extraction thimbles provided by Hawach Scientific Co., Ltd is made up of specially selected high-quality cellulose fiber and cotton fiber. Innovative technology makes it possible for products homogenizing, impurities free, pores uniform, size accurate, and retention strong.

Designed to hold solid samples to be leached (liquid, semi-solid samples are loaded with appropriate solid support after application), we can place the solid sample in a sufficient amount of solvent (usually organic solvent). Solvent Isolation is in an environment where there is sufficient contact, and the leachable components in the sample are separated by dissolution in a solvent.

Available in a variety of models and wall thicknesses, Hawach glasss fiber extraction thimble is suitable for a wide range of applications with most soxhlet extraction designs. Hawach extraction thimbles have been selected by the laboratories of major testing institutions, the quality meets the testing standards, and can be used as an alternative to imported products such as Whatman brand products, which can greatly reduce the experimental cost and improve efficiency.

Due to the characteristics of glass fiber, the following points should be noted when using it:

1. Before use, check the two slightly blocked and slightly hoops of the sampling head, whether the taper is the same, matching, and whether the gap is suitable. When the extraction thimble is loaded and unloaded, it is not subjected to the force such as tearing force or shearing, so that the filter cylinder mouth is protected from breaking.

2. If the extraction thimble is found to have voids, cracks, and uneven thickness, it cannot be used to avoid sampling failure due to airflow.

3. To be used within the specified temperature range, ensure that the extraction thimbles works at sufficient strength. It has been reported that the glass fiber is heated to above 200 °C and then cooled, and its strength begins to decrease. After the fiber is heated to 510 °C for cooling, the strength is only maintained at 35%. Fibers maintain high strength when heated, but their strength is greatly reduced by cooling.
